DJCAD Degree show 290 profiles online

Posted on April 30, 2013May 8, 2013 By Dan

Duncan of Jordanstone College of art and Design have created an online portfolio of all the 290 students in the Degree show this year… My profile at http://www.dundee.ac.uk/djcad/degreeshow/workondisplay/apcp/danshay/ looks a little bit like this:

Dan Shay -Art, Philosophy & Contemporary Practices

dIGITAL SHADOW

‘Artists are the antennae of the race’

Investigating our immersion into technology, through a visual language where digital projection and film converse. My work ranges across interactive installations, videos, and contemporary reinterpretations of both sculpture and paintings, incorporating projection throughout. Interpreting ‘projection’ both to throw forth-using projectors, and in creating work that forecasts future culture based on a study of the present. Developing a process of editing intangible digital video files physically, exploring the blurring boundaries between the real and the virtual world, as apparatuses change how we see the world. This acts as both a formal investigation into the medium of digital projection, and a reflection on the increasing ambiguity of the materiality of information in our digital age. Through this, my work alludes to the effects of technology on our phenomenological experience of the world around us, our ever-changing digital condition.
